Third Party Insurance

Mandatory Civil Liability
The Third Party Insurance covers injuries caused to third parties and damages caused to things of these and allows to include other additional coverages.

characteristics

If the owner of the insured automobile causes accident or personal injury or death of a third party, the company responds to a certain amount. The compensation for property damage is reduced.

These policies compulsorily include Compulsory Liability Insurance and to offer a more complete coverage incorporate other insurance, such as:

to. Voluntary and / or Liability
B. Travel Assistance and / or
C. Legal Defense and / or
D. Driver Insurance.

What is Compulsory Liability?

Every car that circulates in Spain must have compulsory civil liability insurance by law. It has been established as compulsory, so that in case of accident, the insurance of the cause of the accident is responsible for the costs of repairing the car of the victim. To avoid that in the face of an accident you will encounter an insolvent who can not take care of paying the damages resulting from the accident.

Compulsory Liability insurance covers the driver of the vehicle for damages caused to persons or property of third parties due to traffic accidents. To properly understand the insurance, it covers the Civil Liability of the driver and the owner of the vehicle. It means that anyone who drives will be insured even if he is not the insured. But if the driver is young, under 25 years old and has a license of less than two years old, the insurance can reduce the compensation if a loss occurs.

It is obligatory because the legislation obliges you to hire
Important: It is not unlimited coverage, but it has a compensation caps established by law. These are:

Faced with material damages or in case of transporting animals: A maximum of 99.871 euros is established for claims.
In the event of personal injury to third parties: a maximum of 349,550 euros per person is established.
These guarantees are valid throughout the territory of the European Community and the insured can verify the guarantees in the section of the general conditions of his policy.

If in an accident the indemnity expenses exceed the established limits and the cause of the accident only has Compulsory Civil Liability insurance, the difference of the indemnity to pay must leave the pocket of the responsible one. In case of having an Additional Insurance, the rest of the maximum amounts will be covered by the Voluntary Civil Liability insurance.

The fines for driving without insurance range from 600 euros to 3000 euros.

In this way, it is a question of covering all possible damages to third parties and are exempt the own driver and the car of the insured. The liability insurance does not cover the personal injury of the insured, nor the damages of the driver of the vehicle, nor the damages caused to his own vehicle, nor to the things or assets of the insured that he will carry in the car at the time of the accident. Neither does it cover the spouse, children and other relatives.

Features: Compulsory hiring, without it can not be circulated and the indemnity guarantees in case of an accident are limited established by law.

Advantages: the insurer pays material and personal damages, with the indemnity limits established by law.

Disadvantages: in the face of a loss caused by the insured, it does not cover the damages suffered by our car.

Who only contracts the civil liability insurance? Those who have a flawless driving record and are convinced that they are unlikely to crash. Generally, they are looking for insurance that is not very expensive and covers third parties in case of loss. If you buy a new vehicle, be sure that it will not be enough, because you will not be protected by the damages caused by your own car.
Exclusion: All damages caused when the driver is in a state of intoxication or under the effects of drugs or the car has been stolen are excluded from insurance.
