7 KEY POINTS TO DIFFER FROM GOOD TRAVEL INSURANCE

With the wide offer of travel insurance that exists in the market, sometimes it is not easy to choose the one that best suits our needs. In many cases, travelers opt for one option or another, taking as a criterion the price of the policy, understanding that a higher price will guarantee more protection, but this is not necessarily true. From the following points you will be able to differentiate a good travel insurance and have objective criteria to always be right in your choice.

1.WHAT INCLUDES THE MAXIMUM OF COVERINGS IN BASIC INSURANCE

The basic insurance is the one that includes the minimum covers, that can be improved thanks to the extensions. That is why, the more coverage that includes basic travel insurance, the more complete and economically competitive it will be. For this, in addition, these coverages must contemplate amounts and guarantees that are sufficient to protect you against any incidence.

At InterMundial we believe that insurance extensions should be designed to provide a substantial improvement to the insured, guaranteeing a personalized product to each traveler, not offering coverage that is essential for us, such as cancellation of travel.

2. THAT THE COVER LIMITS ARE HIGH

As we explained in the previous point, the economic limits included in coverages are essential to differentiate good travel insurance. In this sense, the higher the limits of a coverage, the better the insurance.

Many insurers do not set economic limits for some of the coverages they offer within their travel policies, stating that these expenses are "unlimited." In InterMundial, in order not to give rise to ambiguity, we include as limit 1.000.000 € for insurance as Totaltravel, since it is an unreachable expense: according to our Claims Department, the cost of an incident never reaches that figure - even in The case of a repatriation by health plane, one of the most expensive procedures, rarely exceeds € 80,000 in expenses.

In the case of annual travel insurance, the limits do not refer to the sum of the times you use insurance throughout the year, but every trip you make in that year.

3. YOU DO NOT HAVE FRANCHISTS (OR YOU HAVE THE LEAST POSSIBLE)

The franchise is a percentage of the expenses that the insured assumes when a loss occurs. This expense has to be related to direct damages in insured objects and that these damages can be compensated economically. Therefore, another of the key aspects that differentiate a good insurance is that it does not have franchises. In this way, you will have the peace of mind that, whatever happens during the trip or stay, you will pay only for the price of your insurance.

For this reason, none of the InterMundial travel insurance covers franchise coverage in the event of an incident: only "search and rescue" franchise is included for extensions or sports insurance.

4. WHICH CONTAINS THE MOST POSSIBLE NUMBER OF CAUSES OF CANCELLATION

We are more and more forward in booking our trips. This advance helps us to get more competitive prices, but also reduces the capacity we have to anticipate situations that prevent us from starting our journey.

For this reason, it is very important to have travel insurance or cancellation insurance that covers as many reasons for cancellation as possible. This is the case of our cancellation insurance, which includes up to 34 causes to cancel the trip: from complications of health or a family member that makes it impossible to travel to work-related issues, such as dismissal at work, through the obligation to perform Procedures in official bodies. This insurance also includes causes of force majeure, such as the official recommendation not to travel, acts of piracy or declaration of destiny as a catastrophic area before starting the journey.

5.WHAT CONTINUES HIGH EXPANSIONS TO BE ABLE TO CUSTOMIZE IT TO THE MAXIMUM

The ability to customize a policy is critical to recognizing good travel insurance. It is not enough to have a basic insurance with complete protection, but there should be the possibility of extending certain coverages depending on, for example, the type of trip that we are going to carry out, the cost of health in the country of destination or the economic value of The items that make up our luggage.

6. DO NOT HAVE AGE LIMITS

In many cases, insurers set up premiums for people over 70 years of age and even limit the recruitment of travel insurance to those over 75 years of age.

At InterMundial we believe that we all have the right to enjoy the trip and, above all, to make it insured, whatever our age. Therefore, we think that a good insurance should not have age limits nor be more expensive for travelers over a certain age.

7.WHAT IS SPECIALIZED IN THE TYPE OF JOURNEY YOU WILL DO

Because it is not the same as going on a cruise, going hiking in Nepal, traveling with the whole family, it is essential that you choose specialized insurance in certain areas to protect you to the maximum and have exactly the coverage you need.
